Malcolm Pickett, a 100 Black Men of DeKalb Leadership Academy member since 2004 has been busy accumulating an impressive string of academic achievements this school year. Currently an 11th grade student at Arabia Mountain High School, Malcolm is no stranger to his fellow Leadership Academy students. Not only was he attending DeKalbís newest high school, he was selected to serve as an Arabia Mountain High School representative on the DeKalb County Superintendentís Student Advisory Committee, where he serves the school by acting as a liaison between Arabia Mountain students and the DeKalb County Board of Education.
In November, Malcolm was nominated in the area of technology, for the 2010 Georgia Governorís Honors Program. Students attend the program on the campus of Valdosta State University. One of eight Arabia Mountain students selected for a state level interview, Malcolm recently learned that he has been designated as a program alternate.
